Kurm Prishthiya or Parad Meru Kachap Shri Yantra is one of the oldest, unique and most valuable Yantras and believed to have been produced by Adi Guru Dattatreya for the wellbeing of the humankind. The name, Sri Yantra, which means instrument for the harmony, wellness and prosperity, made on the back of turtle, is also important because in Hindu mythology, it is believed that the turtle carried the weight of the earth on its backside. The Tortoise is mainly significant because they are very influential, secluded being that can live in either water or land. It is also peaceful and natural world has provided it with a strong shell or cover to defend it from danger. Parad Meru Kashyap Shri Yantra has eight petals as in the case of the real Shri Yantra where the Kamal or Lotus flower has eight sets with sixty-four Lotus petals. It is also seen that most of the patterns of Yantras are founded on the blooming Lotus flower. Here the problem arises as to why Guru Dattatreya chosen only the Lotus flower as the bottom of maximum Yantras. The reason is Lotus is the only holy flower, which initiates from the navel of God Vishnu. Where the God of wisdom and originator of Veda i.e. God Brahma' is also supposed to be seated. Guru Dattatreya is said to be the symbol of the Trimurti i.e. God Brahma, God Vishnu and God Shiva. Therefore, the power which pushes person to worship the Yantras lies in the strong faith that these Yantras are formed by this "Trimurti" themselves who are the originator, preserver and demolisher of the world respectively, who also manage the Sun, the Moon, Planets and hence, the whole cosmos itself. It is also said that the expert Brahmin society of coastal area in Rameshwaram and Kerala in Seventh or Eighth Century vividly used the 'Kachap Meru Shree Yantra'. The Shree Yantra designed on the mount on the backside of a turtle looks similar to the dome of any temple, which is a little mounted.
